From one side it looks like a Cyber-shot compact camera, but turn it round and you realise that the C905 is also a mobile phone. This is no mere design trickery, however: boasting an 8.1 megapixel camera, Sony’s first-ever Cyber-shot slider is going up against dedicated digital compact cameras. ![]() It remains to be seen just how picture quality will compare, but with Sony’s Cyber-shot technology they’ll certainly be a darn sight crisper than most mobile phone snaps. It even boasts a proper xenon camera flash and is packed with features such as face detection, autofocus, smart contrast, red-eye reduction and image stabilisation. The one obvious omission is an optical zoom – it only has a 16x digital one – but you can’t have everything. And it does come supplied with a 2GB Memory Stick Micro for storing photos and video footage. Other features include a 2.4-inch scratch-resistant screen, music/video streaming, Bluetooth and HDPSA connectivity, built-in Wi-Fi and a TV output. Available in three colours, the phone is also GPS-enabled, so could potentially work as a sat-nav.
